Here are some studies I did for the engine compatment and the main body. From my original hand studies you can see what parts of the design I favored and the direction that I went in.

I put the cominication arrays (green part) as a typical Minmitar style ship design. Which gave the ship design a verticle element.

I am so geeked-out by this stuff.
